Marmalade have belonged to Fazer Christmas assortment since the late 1800s, when Karl Fazer brought the recipe from St. Petersburg, where he studied. The green balls were sold first in Helsinki in 1929. The crown available on marmalade box has become a well-known symbol of Fazer marmalade.
Three generations of the British royal family has been Fazer jam in the gift, and it was also called "Coronation Marmalade" until 1948, when it changed its name to Finlandia. Marmalade was first sent to King Edward VII in 1902 to celebrate his coronation. In 1947, the marmalade was sent as a wedding present to Princess Elizabeth, the future queen. In order to maintain the tradition of Fazer also sent marmalade as a wedding present when Kate Middleton and Prince William were married in 2011.
Today transmitted the tradition of Fazer Christmas marmalade from one generation to the next. Marmalade balls manufactured in Fazer's own factory in Lappeenranta.
