history of fazer
taste sensations in more than one hundred year
The Fazer family company was founded in 1891 when Karl Fazer opened his first café in Helsinki. Karl Fazer's motto was "We must always exceed customer expectations." His quotes are well known throughout the company and guide us in our work. It has led to the general philosophy of quality in our company as a great joy even becoming one of the most important differentiation basics for us.
Fazer operates in flavor of Experience world and has broadened from the cafe and patisserie business for confectionery, with Fazer Blue, launched in 1922, to bread in 1952 and to catering in 1976 which became the basis for Fazer Food Services.
Many of our brands have Swedish origin. Dumble, eyes, Tutti Frutti and China, Fazer in 1975 with the purchase of the specific case. And since 13 January 2009, when Fazer bought Lantmännen Fresh bread also includes Skogaholm to the brand portfolio.
An important era in Fazer's history was the 2000s when the confectionery became part of Cloetta Fazer, and was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Since 2009, the confectionery back into the parent company.
Karl Fazer Cafe, where it all began, is still at the same address, Glogatan 3, the center of Helsinki. Visit a coffee (or maybe a chocolate ice cream with bits of Karl Fazer Blue) when you are in Finnish capital, next time!
