ekströms is one of the oldest brands that never
go out of style
The Ekströms brand has been included in Procordia since 1995. Company Ekström started in Örebro in 1848. But at the time the mustache was wax, boot grease and ink all the way. The start of Ekström was rippling water grog mixtures and soft drinks. Restaurateur Carl Edvard Eklind, who ran the spa gardens in Adolfsberg in Örebro, constantly heard young and old guests rave about these fizzy drinks. He attracted newly graduated pharmacist Henric Eberhard Ekström to develop the mineral water and soft drinks. Cooperation with Ekström became very successful. He was to say the least innovative person and developed, including Sweden's first real chocolate.
The food industry's debut was in 1875 when baking from Ekström was a success and the company made known outside Örebro. Until World War II, baking powder company's best seller, but the success came to an end when it received the award of the plate during the war. The Swedish housewives would necessarily have baking powder in tin can.
Henric Eberhard Ekström died in 1882 and when the company had financial difficulties. But restaurateurs Eklinds wife Fina took a resolute approach to the business and began a fundamental reorganization of the company. When the bankruptcy was a fact she sold the inventory and moved home company at their home. About ten years later it was back on its feet.
In 1930 the company began producing rose hips. To start with was named product Rosehip Must. Only after World War II began production of the rose hip soup which we know so well today. With rosehip soup as a starter, dried foods that play a key role in the coming years and many new products were launched. It was during this time that blueberry soup was introduced to the Vasaloppet. Development has been a beacon of Ekström's over the years. New products are developed continuously and marketing has always been the focus. When Ekström 1999 was nominated for "Best brand product", the jury had a statement that is current today:
"Ekström is a brand with many years behind, deeply rooted in the Swedish soul. The jury was impressed by its continuing vitality, freshness and renewal capacity and becoming like everyone else, a child again."
